By translating the company’s methodology of “outside/in thinking”, the form of a cube is explored by various interventions to inform the spatial planning and detail. These interventions begin to determine the spatial function: degree of privacy + acoustics, focus or collaborative work, formal or social settings, framing of views.

The arrival experience of Trout challenges the conventional notion of reception, a considered sequence of design elements was introduced to inform the client entry experience. The premium materials and detailing express the image of Trout and celebrates the office’s incredible location on the Huangpu River; The reception counter is considered as a “plinth”, which blurs different functions and brings the guest within to experience first-hand the workings of Trout’s methodology. The reception area can be easily transformed into a multi-functional space to host internal and external events.

Taking a position in the most prestigious point of the floor plate, the CEO Office and the VIP Room are the executive spaces which combine a sense of luxury as well as providing a moment to step “inside the mind” of Trout & Partners. A history walk is set in the corridor which connects the reception area and CEO room executive zone, creating a space which curates the graphic art containing the historic milestones for Trout & Partners.

The Pantry and Library sit at the adjacent side of the formal client facing zones as well. Its outlook and purpose provide a more relaxed and warmer environment for staff to escape at any point of the day. A slatted box is used to define and provide seclusion from the open office.
